| | Fire is hot. Ice is cold. When we combine two opposite elements together, we do not necessarily get conflicting results. Instead, we can get one of the most interesting dessert in the world: Baked Alaska
Other names for this dessert are: glace au four, omelette à la norvégienne, Norwegian omelette and omelette surprise.
It was renamed 'Baked Alaska' in 1876 to honour the conquer of the State of Alaska.
This dessert is made of 'Ice Cream', lined with layers of sponge cake, topped with Meringue. Then it is put inside an oven to bake it. The 'Meringue' acted as an insulator to prevent the Ice Cream from melting.

Today is my sister's birthday. I was unable to find Baked Alaska or Mango Cake, but instead found a Strawberry Cake for her. She loved it!
