It Was Not A Long Long Time Ago

Some of the works may seem distant and alien but actually come from the recent past.

The pictures in this book were Jimmy Liao's works from 2001 to 2002 that were published in the literary supplement issues in Taiwanese newspapers. The pictures were drawn using watercolor with fine print oil-based markers on Arches watercolor paper imported from France.

The pictures in the book are presented alongside ten short essays on illustration and creation from Jimmy discussing how he came to become an illustrator for literary works and his experiences creating them. This is a literary annal that preserved the shape and outline of the literary landscape from that period of time in Taiwan, giving substance and form to a now distant era of monochrome printed supplements.
