Overview

At the onset of the global pandemic, Jimmy created a series of illustrations featuring children in their little houses, bringing strength and encouragement to those who felt trapped inside their homes while the world seemed at a standstill. Now we’ve lived through the pandemic, but the world seems to have become increasingly confusing with joyful moments fewer and farther between. Let these pictures that were meant to summon strength and courage become our beacons of hope and keep us smiling through life.

Come on! Come on! Join Jimmy in making a new pledge, for come what may, today we will be happy!

A letter from Jimmy to his readers

In the spring of 2020, when the world became overshadowed by the global pandemic, and sickness struck fear in us all, we were told by the authorities to stay home and stay safe, remaining isolated in our homes.
All across social media, we urged each other to stay home and protect ourselves from danger. So I started a series of illustrations depicting people staying in their homes, planning to share a picture a day on my Facebook page on the experience of becoming homebodies.
As it often is, easier said than done, and that was what became of my “daily posts.”
But what started as a random picture or two of children stuck inside their homes grew into three, four, ten...and more.
As it often is, flowers bloom where you least expect them to, and what started as a little idea grew into something bigger and more beautiful than I ever expected. Before I knew it, the little series of just a few pictures had grown into a volume of close to a hundred.
Now we’re in the spring of 2024, the pandemic has gone away, but war stills lingers in the distance, people are still hurting, and hearts are still breaking. Friends may fall ill, you may lose a loved one or your closest furry friend; the place where you work may fall apart, you may have to look for a new job...

Ah! For some reason I seem to have grown a super power that enables me to embrace whatever comes my way.
As it often is, get to work, write a book, cheer yourself up! Come what may, today I will be happy!
